Wind Generated Power

 

PKM  Electric is participating in Minnkota Power Cooperative’s Infinity Wind Energy program. The programs first wind turbine was recently completed and is located along Interstate 94, approximately six miles east of Valley City ND. This site was chosen based on the areas wind speed characteristics, the proximity to Minnkota’s transmission system and the location along a well-traveled highway.

The turbine has the capacity to generate approximately 2.5 million kilowatt hours (Kwh) per year, enough to power approximately 200-300 homes. Interested customers of the associated Minnkota systems have already committed to the entire electrical output of the wind turbine at an additional cost of $3 per month for each 100 Kwh of wind energy purchased. More turbines can be added to the system as interest and commitment will support.
